Its very difficult to know where to start, as it seems hard to put into words what an impact Nick has had on so many people. I am manager of Reading Old Blues FC, however first met Nick when he was brought along to play cricket for Caversham and Redingensians CC by his mate Chris Maffey. Nick had never really played cricket before and it turned out that he was a natural. During that first cricket season, in the summer of 2003, I discovered that Nick was an excellent sportsman and therefore signed him up for Old Blues FC. Nick played a season and a half for us and from his first game was an instant hit, not only as a player, but moreover and absolutely TOP young man. He was only 15/16 when he started playing and his attitude, ability and sportsmanship were exemplary. He was competitive, dedicated, enthusiastic and loved winning (and scoring). At the end of his first seson whilst still only 16, he was voted players player of the year. I personally, and the team as a whole, will miss Nick greatly, it will feel strange not to have him with us. We would like to express our deepest sympathy and send our condolences to Nicks family, I know you supported him fully in everything that he did, and he was a great credit to you all. Somehow i hope the memories of this fantastic young man will help you through this time. Finally, be assured that everyone at Reading Old Blues FC will be playing for Nick during the rest of this season and beyond.

I still can't believe whats happened to Nick, he was an amazing guy, gentle, caring, considerate, always happy and made a fantastic footballer. I'd grown very close to Nick in year 12 and i got to know him so well, I just can't understand why hes been taken away from us. He was such a popular guy at school, work, football, everywhere he went he raised a smile and passed on a smile. he will never be forgotten and I will never forget all the great memories and times we shared. Bless you Nick, your brill! Love always Lucy x we will meet again one day soon. I send my deepest thoughts to everybody who knew Nick, especially his family.

I was Chairman of the Reading Old Blues when Nick joined us last season. I am now living in South Africa, and I've just heard the tragic news. Nick was a tiger on the pitch, and a pussycat off it. He was a lovely young man, mature for his age, who related well to people of all ages and all backgrounds. He'll be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

I am Nick's sister, I set up this site as a sort of 'online condolence book' before I found out about all the others... However, you are welcome to add messages here too.
Nick was a wonderful brother and I miss him very much. What happened on Wednesday night was shocking and very sad. I know that people have many different memories of Nick, and our family are so overwhelmed with the support we have received. We only knew certain sides to his life, and it is very nice to learn about the 'other Nick' that everybody knew.
He was a great and wonderful person. He is very sadly missed.
